In 1950 was organized by the International Police Association. One of the founders of the NGO was sergeant of the United Kingdom A. Troup. For its creation, first he had corresponded with colleagues from other countries. The purpose of the organization - the exchange of experiences and skills. At first there were only 100 members, but today at the IPA includes police officers from 64 countries, the number of members exceeds 400,000. Membership is guaranteed to any police officer, no matter race or position, faith and language. IPA has offices at the United Nations, the Council of Europe. IPA is an independent organization from anyone, neither the trade unions nor the politicians or governments. It is open to those countries that do not obstruct the international exchange of experience among police professionals.

Ukraine was in the IPA in 1997 at the Fifteenth World Congress in Canada. This is because our police officers wanted to talk with representatives of the profession from different countries to assist in the work, for mutual support, to master the art of professional innovations, criminology, legal resolution of problems.

In the Ukrainian section of IPA made the best representatives of the profession, which can help work at the international level, stand out for their knowledge and skills.

IPA task - to raise the level of law enforcement personnel, engaged in mutual aid at work and at home, to educate young workers in the respect for the law and the people. The fight against crime - an international problem, for its successful solutions need sustained international cooperation. Nowadays, electronic communications and ubiquitous computing are new type of crime, criminals sometimes do not even have to cross borders to commit a crime abroad, it is remotely, over the Internet. Therefore, the role of international communication is increasing every year, it is necessary on a permanent basis for the transfer of best practices to combat crime prevention and the improvement of their laws.

In addition, with increased travel abroad, problems arise when crimes are committed against the citizens of Ukraine. To address these issues requires close contact with law enforcement officers of the countries where the crime was committed against our citizens, or vice versa, by our citizens. Become more urgent issues of transfer of information to combat international organized crime, international drug trafficking, terrorism, etc.
